What are the difference between TED’s and junction device?

Answer:

The difference between TEDs and Transistor as a junction device are as follows:

  1. Transistors operates with either junctions or gates while TEDs are bulk devices having no junction or gates
  2. Transistors are fabricated from elemental semiconductors such as silicon or germanium while TEDs are fabricated from compound semiconductors such as GaAs, InP or CdTe.
  3. Transistor operate with warm electrons whole energy is not much greater than the thermal energy of electrons in the semiconductor while TEDs operate with hot electrons whose energy is very much greater than the thermal energy.
